Guide: trim and clean a voice recording

How to Use

1

Open your audio

Load a recording locally. Listen to the original to identify the problem before applying an effect.

2

Choose a gentle starting point

Try Clear voice, Balanced podcast, or Gentle music. Adjust noise reduction, bass, treble, and dynamics to suit your recording.

3

Apply and compare

Click Apply settings, then listen to the original and current edit. Undo and try a lower noise setting if speech sounds metallic.

4

Download the result

Prepare WAV for another edit or choose a compressed format for sharing. Save the completed download before closing the tab.

Improve a recording with controlled audio effects

This enhancer uses signal processing: spectral noise reduction, bass and treble filters, dynamic compression, and loudness normalization. It does not use a generative AI model or upload your recording.

Choose the right amount of cleanup

Start with a low noise-reduction setting for fan noise or hiss. Listen especially to soft consonants and the ends of words. Heavy reduction can remove useful detail or introduce a watery, metallic sound. Other speakers and music are not steady noise and may remain audible.

Make voice volume more consistent

Compression reduces the difference between loud and quiet passages. Normalization targets −16 LUFS with a −1.5 dB true-peak target using a single-pass loudness filter. These are processing targets, not a measured compliance guarantee for every clip. A final limiter controls peaks.

Compare before you download

Listen to both players at the same device volume. A louder result can initially seem clearer even when it contains more artifacts. Undo the change and try a gentler preset if the enhanced version sounds less natural.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an AI audio enhancer?▼
No. It uses local audio filters for noise reduction, tone, compression, and loudness. It does not generate replacement speech or use an AI model.
Can it completely remove all background noise?▼
No. Results depend on the source. Steady noise can be reduced, but competing speech, strong echo, clipping, and missing information may remain. Compare before and after, and use a gentler setting if artifacts appear.
Which audio formats can I use?▼
Open MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A/AAC, OGG/Vorbis, Opus, AIFF, and WebM audio. Additional formats such as WMA and AMR depend on their codec and the available decoder. Export WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG, or Opus. Protected files are unsupported.
Is my recording uploaded to a server?▼
No. Decoding, editing, enhancement, and export run on your device. The audio engine downloads on first use, but your recording is not uploaded. Reloading or closing the tab ends your editing session.

Limits and assumptions

  • Up to 100 MB per input, 10 minutes per recording, and 128 MB of decoded mono or stereo samples. Device memory can impose a lower practical limit.
  • Codec support depends on the file contents, not just its extension. Protected, damaged, and unsupported recordings cannot be opened.
  • WAV exports use 16-bit PCM. Editing and compressed exports can change the source samples; converting to FLAC does not recover detail lost in an MP3.
  • Audio stays in this browser tab. Save your download before reloading or closing it. Undo history is limited to eight edits and a memory budget.
  • Noise reduction works best on steady background noise. It cannot reliably remove other voices, restore missing detail, or repair severely clipped recordings.
